An effective counter-terrorism campaign relies on sustained pressure, and the latest operation in Kebbi State underscores ongoing efforts by security forces to deny armed groups safe havens across the North-West.

Troops of the 8 Division under Sector 2 of Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have recorded a major operational success after repelling a suspected Lakurawa terrorist attack and recovering a cache of weapons and explosives in Kebbi State.

The operation, carried out on 14 June 2026 around Dogon Daji in Dandi Local Government Area, led to a fierce gun battle between troops and the terrorists.

Military sources said the attackers were overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the troops and forced to flee the area.

Subsequent pursuit operations resulted in the recovery of rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launch tubes, RPG rounds, several improvised bombs, two motorcycles, a charger and other personal items abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.

Notably, no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation.

The success forms part of ongoing offensive operations by Operation Fansan Yamma aimed at dismantling terrorist and bandit networks across the North-West.

Military authorities said troops remain on the offensive, sustaining pressure on criminal elements and disrupting their activities across the region.
