Police Rescue Abducted Mother, Twin Sons Unharmed In Ibadan Operation
Swift intelligence-led policing has once again demonstrated its value as operatives of the Nigeria Police Force successfully rescued an abducted woman and her twin sons without harm, three days after they were kidnapped in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Nigeria Police Force confirmed on Sunday that Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were rescued during a coordinated operation by the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in Ibadan on Saturday evening.
The victims were abducted on June 3, 2026, while Mrs Adegoke was driving her children to school at about 7:30 a.m.
According to the police, sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical operations enabled investigators to track the kidnappers and confront them during the rescue mission.
During the operation, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded, while security operatives recovered two rifles.
The rescued mother and her children were found unharmed and have since been placed in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and support.
The Inspector-General of Police commended the professionalism, courage and dedication of the FID-IRT operatives and other officers involved in the operation, describing their efforts as instrumental to the successful rescue.
Meanwhile, security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate believed to have fled the scene.
Preliminary intelligence suggests some of the suspects escaped with gunshot wounds.
The police assured Nigerians that operations are ongoing to track down all those involved and reiterated their commitment to combating violent crime, protecting lives and ensuring the safety of citizens across the country.
