Trainees Face Tough Final Fitness Test As NAF Raises Special Forces Standards

In the battle against terrorism, success often begins long before the battlefield, with the training ground where only the strongest and most resilient are selected for elite operations.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening national security by subjecting trainees of Special Forces Course 13/2026 to a rigorous final Physical Fitness Test at the Regiment Training Centre Annex (RTCA), Bauchi.

The demanding assessment, conducted on 30 May 2026, tested trainees’ physical endurance, mental toughness, discipline and operational readiness, with only those meeting the highest standards progressing in the elite training programme.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, said the evolving security environment requires highly trained personnel capable of confronting terrorism, insurgency, kidnapping and other criminal activities.

He stressed that the NAF remains committed to training, equipping and deploying forces ready to take the fight to criminal elements across the country.

Commandant of RTCA Bauchi, Squadron Leader Edeama Lawrence Akpan, noted that the exercise was designed to identify trainees capable of operating effectively in hostile and demanding environments where mission success depends on resilience, endurance and unwavering commitment.

The NAF said the exercise reflects its determination to build a force of mission-ready Special Forces operators capable of supporting ongoing military operations and responding effectively to contemporary security challenges.
