Eid-el-Kabir: IGP Disu Orders Nationwide Security Clampdown, Urges Nigerians To Stay Vigilant
With millions of Muslims across Nigeria marking Eid-el-Kabir amid persistent security concerns, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered enhanced security deployments nationwide to ensure peaceful celebrations.
In a statement issued from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the police chief directed Commissioners of Police and tactical commanders across the country to intensify proactive policing, surveillance operations and intelligence-led patrols throughout the festive period.
The security measures include strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives to Eid prayer grounds, highways, motor parks, recreational centres and other public spaces, alongside stop-and-search operations and rapid response mechanisms.
The IGP also urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements, unattended objects or unusual gatherings capable of threatening public safety.
According to him, timely information from citizens could help prevent attacks and save lives, stressing that security remains a collective responsibility.
