CDS Orders Troops To Intensify Fight Against Terrorism In Southern Kaduna
Amid Nigeria’s persistent security challenges, the Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, has charged troops of the 2 National Mission Force Brigade in Southern Kaduna to step up efforts in crushing terrorism, kidnapping and cattle rustling in the region.
Speaking during an operational visit to the Brigade headquarters in Samaru Kataf, Kaduna State, General Oluyede said troops must remain proactive and innovative in staying ahead of criminal elements threatening peace in the area.
The CDS, who assessed the combat readiness of the Brigade, expressed satisfaction with the troops’ professionalism and alertness, while assuring them of continued support through improved welfare, operational equipment and military platforms.
“You must keep outwitting criminals by anticipating their actions and evolving effective counter measures,” he told the troops.
Commander of the Brigade, Capt. OJ Ekuma, highlighted several operational successes recorded since the formation’s establishment in 2024, including the neutralisation of bandits, recovery of weapons and rustled cattle, rescue of kidnapped victims, and arrest of criminal collaborators.
The Defence Chief also inspected ongoing Defence Headquarters projects and military deployments in the area, directing the provision of additional operational tools to strengthen the Brigade’s effectiveness.
The visit, accompanied by senior military officers including the Chief of Defence Operations, Major General JH Abdussalam, underscored the Armed Forces’ commitment to improving troop welfare and boosting operational efficiency in the fight against insecurity.
