Missile Breach Sparks Fear: Over 100 Injured As Iranian Strike Exposes Israel’s Air Defence Gaps
In modern warfare, even the most advanced defence systems are only as strong as their weakest moment—and for Israel, that moment came with devastating consequences.
More than 100 people have been injured after a barrage of Iranian ballistic missiles struck southern Israel, hitting key locations in Arad and Dimona in what officials have described as a large-scale and deeply troubling attack.
Among the casualties are a 12-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl, both reportedly in critical condition, as emergency responders scrambled to rescue victims and treat the wounded.
In Dimona alone, at least 27 people were injured, including a teenager with severe shrapnel wounds, while Arad recorded no fewer than 68 casualties, with several in serious condition.
A mass-casualty alert was declared in Beersheba as rescue operations intensified across multiple sites. Israel’s emergency service Chief, Magen David Adom, described the incident as overwhelming, warning that some victims may still be trapped beneath rubble following structural collapses and fires triggered by the தாக்க.
Israeli authorities have launched an urgent investigation after confirming that at least one missile was not intercepted by the country’s air defence system, an unusual lapse that has raised fresh concerns about vulnerabilities in Israel’s security shield.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it “a very difficult evening,” vowing continued military action, while Iranian state-linked media claimed the attack was in retaliation for alleged strikes on its nuclear facilities, claims Israel denies.
Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency says there is no evidence of damage to nuclear infrastructure in the affected area but has urged restraint to prevent further escalation.
With air raid sirens continuing to echo across southern Israel, fears are mounting that the incident could mark a dangerous turning point in an already volatile conflict.
