After Maiduguri Blasts, IGP Disu Moves To Reassure Residents, Tightens Security
In the wake of renewed security concerns in Nigeria’s North-East, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has stepped up efforts to reassure residents and reinforce safety measures following the recent IED explosions in Maiduguri.
The IGP visited victims receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the Monday Market bombing site, underscoring the gravity of the attacks.
He also held strategic engagements at the Borno State Government House and the State Police Command Headquarters to review ongoing security operations and strengthen coordinated responses.
Disu commiserated with victims and bereaved families, while assuring that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to dismantling networks behind the attacks and preventing further incidents.
He added that security has been intensified across Maiduguri, with increased deployments, enhanced surveillance and joint operations aimed at safeguarding lives and restoring public confidence.
