International Women’s Day: Nigeria Police Celebrate Courage and Impact Of Female Officers
As the world marks International Women’s Day, the Nigerian Police Force has highlighted the growing impact of women in law enforcement, praising their resilience, professionalism, and dedication to national security.
In a message commemorating International Women’s Day 2026, the Force acknowledged the critical role played by female officers across various departments, noting that their contributions continue to strengthen policing and justice delivery in Nigeria.
Aligning with this year’s global theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the courage and commitment of women within the Force who have consistently demonstrated service excellence.
The Police leadership noted that female officers are steadily breaking barriers in a profession traditionally dominated by men, while upholding justice and contributing significantly to the safety and security of the nation.
The statement also emphasised the need to continue building a society where every woman is respected, protected, and empowered to achieve her full potential.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to supporting gender equality and recognising the invaluable role of women both within the institution and in the broader Nigerian society.
