Quick Response Averts Tragedy As Fuel Tanker Topples In Kaduna

A routine Sunday morning in Kaduna could have turned catastrophic, but swift action by emergency responders ensured danger was defused before lives and property were put at risk.

Personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) under RS1.1 Kaduna Sector Command prevented a major disaster after a loaded fuel tanker crashed at NEPA Roundabout along Ahmadu Bello Way in the early hours of Sunday, 8 February 2026.

Following a distress call received at about 7:15am, a rescue team led by Deputy Route Commander I. Gunda was immediately deployed to the scene.

On arrival, officers cordoned off the area, shut all roads leading to the fallen tanker to prevent secondary crashes and possible fire outbreak, and diverted traffic to ease congestion within the metropolis.

The FRSC worked in collaboration with personnel of the Federal Fire Service and the Nigeria Police Force to secure the scene and commence the safe evacuation of the fuel and removal of the tanker.

No casualty was recorded at the time of the report.

Commending road users for their cooperation, the FRSC urged motorists to remain calm, obey traffic directives and exercise patience while recovery operations continue, reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and property on Nigerian roads.
