Nigeria-Türkiye Ties Deepen As Tuggar Holds Strategic Talks In Ankara
With Nigeria positioning itself to unlock new global partnerships ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s state visit to Türkiye, Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has held high-level strategic talks with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, in Ankara.
The meeting focused on strengthening political, economic, security and multilateral cooperation between both countries, signalling a renewed push to deepen bilateral relations.
Minister Fidan commended Nigeria’s leadership role in promoting peace and stability in West Africa, while Tuggar underscored the need to expand trade and attract greater Turkish investment, particularly in construction, manufacturing, energy and infrastructure.
Both sides also explored opportunities to enhance defence and military cooperation, reflecting shared security interests.
The engagement highlights the growing strategic partnership between Nigeria and Türkiye, anchored on sovereignty, institutional collaboration and practical economic cooperation, as both nations prepare for a new phase of diplomatic and commercial engagement.
