Restored Throne, Renewed Hope: Ndiowu Breaks 11-Year Silence With New Monarch

When a community goes more than a decade without a traditional ruler, its cultural rhythm weakens, its unity frays, and its voice in the wider society dims.

For Ndiowu in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, that long silence has now been broken.

The community is celebrating a historic moment following the restoration of its traditional stool after 11 years, a feat credited to the administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

The renewed pride follows the successful election of Chief Chibuzo Okekeifi as Ezediọramma II of Ndiowu, bringing closure to a prolonged leadership vacuum that began after the peaceful passing of the former monarch, Late Eze O. Udeh (Ezediọramma I).

Community leaders say the emergence of the new monarch symbolises unity, dignity, and cultural revival. A prominent indigene, Chief Dr Joseph Chimezie Onuorah, popularly known as Deme Deme Na Orumba, described the installation as a “turning point” for Ndiowu both at home and in the diaspora.

He praised Governor Soludo for creating an atmosphere that ensured a peaceful and transparent selection process, while also commending the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Tony Collins Nwabunne, and Orumba North Chairman, Rt. Capt. Casmir Nwafor, for their administrative guidance.

Chief Onuorah pledged unwavering support for the new monarch, expressing confidence that his reign would prioritise youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and sustainable community development.

Residents are optimistic that Ezediọramma II’s ascension will strengthen the traditional institution, deepen communal harmony, and usher in a new era of inclusive growth for Ndiowu.
