‘Hold Your Heads High’ – FG Hails Super Eagles’ Grit, Says Nigeria Remains Proud Despite Defeat

In moments of sporting heartbreak, nations often reveal what they value most, not just victory, but character and unity.

The Federal Government has applauded the Super Eagles for their courage and resilience despite falling short at the tournament, assuring the team that Nigeria remains proud of their performance.

In a goodwill message issued on behalf of the government, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, commended the national team for representing the country with pride, dignity, and an unyielding fighting spirit.

The minister noted that although the Eagles did not emerge as champions, their display of teamwork, commitment, and resilience resonated deeply with Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

According to him, football is defined by both triumphs and setbacks, but the values shown by the team throughout the competition were worthy of national respect.

He encouraged the players to hold their heads high, draw lessons from the experience, remain united, and return stronger in future outings, stressing that wearing the green and white symbolises courage, unity, and perseverance.

“The nation stands with you, always,” the minister assured, thanking the team for the joy, hope, and inspiration they gave Nigerians during the tournament.
