Plateau Governor Seeks Stronger Air Force Backing As Security Concerns Persist
As insecurity continues to test peace and livelihoods across the North Central region, Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has stepped up efforts to deepen strategic partnerships with federal security agencies.
The Governor on Tuesday visited the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he met with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to strengthen collaboration aimed at addressing evolving security threats in Plateau State.
He congratulated the Air Chief on his appointment and commended the Air Force for its sustained support in maintaining stability in the state.
Governor Mutfwang described the security situation as complex, noting that asymmetric threats require continuous cooperation, especially during festive and farming seasons when vulnerabilities often increase.
He reaffirmed the readiness of the Plateau State Government to support Air Force operations, stressing that effective security depends on strong coordination between state and federal authorities.
In his response, Air Marshal Aneke assured the Governor of the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to professional, intelligence-driven operations in Plateau State and the wider North Central region.
He highlighted ongoing contributions through intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions, air mobility support and joint operations with sister security agencies.
The Air Chief also appreciated the support of the Plateau State Government and host communities, describing it as vital to sustaining operational effectiveness.
Both leaders agreed to further strengthen cooperation through improved training, capability development and a whole-of-government approach to security.
The meeting ended with a shared commitment to enhancing peace, safety and public confidence, as both parties pledged to work closely to safeguard lives and promote sustainable development in Plateau State.
