Numbers Don’t Lie: Soludo’s Security Model Makes Anambra Safest In Southeast

By Christian Aburime

Anambra State has emerged as the safest state in the Southeast, according to newly released security data — a development the Soludo administration says proves its security model is working.

Figures from TheCable covering July 2024 to June 2025 show that Anambra recorded 63 cases of kidnapping within the period, ranking 16th nationwide and lowest in the region.

The report credits Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s hybrid security framework for the achievement.

The model, built on the Udo Ga Chi allied forces — a joint team of the Army, Navy, Police, DSS and Civil Defence working alongside local Agunechemba vigilante groups, has created a multi-layered network combining professional expertise with grassroots intelligence.

“This structure ensures rapid response across all 21 LGAs, builds trust with local communities, and delivers real results,” a government spokesperson said.

Beyond the numbers, residents say daily life has improved.

Markets in Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka now open longer, nightlife has returned, and farmers are accessing their land with greater confidence.

While acknowledging that no system is flawless, the Soludo administration insists the data speaks for itself. “Critics amplify isolated incidents, but the trend is clear.

Anambra is safer, more secure, and better positioned for sustainable development,” it said.

Plans are underway to strengthen the architecture further with advanced technology and inter-state collaboration.

For now, the numbers tell the story: Anambra stands out as a model of security success in the Southeast.
