ECOWAS President Omar Touray Meets UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed In Abuja
The United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Mrs Amina J. Mohammed, has held high-level talks with the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr Omar Alieu Touray, on pressing regional challenges facing West Africa.
The meeting, which took place on Monday, 25 August 2025, at the ECOWAS headquarters in Abuja, centred on strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing issues of terrorism, arms proliferation, insecurity, and instability across the region.
Both leaders underscored the urgency of coordinated action to tackle the threats undermining peace and development in West Africa, while reaffirming their commitment to advancing security, stability, and sustainable growth for the region’s people.
