ECOWAS Highlights Peace and Security Efforts At African Defence Summit In Abuja

The ECOWAS Commission has showcased its flagship publications at the African Chiefs of Defence Staff Summit, held in Abuja, Nigeria, from 25 to 27 August 2025.

The exhibition featured a wide range of materials detailing the Commission’s work on conflict prevention, curbing the proliferation of small arms, strengthening democracy, and advancing the women, peace and security agenda.

Other initiatives on display underscored ECOWAS’ broader commitment to fostering peace, security, and stability across West Africa and the wider continent.

The summit brought together military chiefs from across Africa to deliberate on collective security challenges, with ECOWAS using the platform to demonstrate its continued role in regional peacebuilding and defence cooperation.
