CHAN 2025: Super Eagles B Face Sudan In Must-Win Clash
Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles will battle Sudan’s Falcons of Jediane in a high-stakes Group D encounter at the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Zanzibar on Tuesday, knowing only victory will keep their campaign alive.
A late strike by title-holders Senegal handed Nigeria a 1–0 defeat in their opener last week, leaving Coach Eric Chelle’s men with no margin for error.
The match, kicking off at 6pm at the 15,000-capacity Amaan Stadium, is seen as a make-or-break moment for the 2018 runners-up.
“This is the most important game for us,” Chelle said at Monday’s pre-match press conference. “We’re under pressure, but we’re ambitious and must win.”
Team captain Nduka Harrison Junior echoed the determination in camp, insisting the setback against Senegal was “not a disaster” and that the team is ready to correct its mistakes.
Sudan, who were denied victory by a late Congo equaliser in their opening match, have promised a fearless fight. Head coach Kwesi Appiah said: “Nigeria is one of the biggest nations in African football and we respect them, but we won’t fear them the best team will win.”
With both sides desperate for three points, the Zanzibar crowd can expect a fiercely contested encounter.
