Nigeria, Algeria Strengthen Ties As Work Begins On New Embassy In Algiers

Nigeria and Algeria have reaffirmed their strong diplomatic bond, following a strategic meeting between Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, and Algerian Foreign Minister, Ahmed Attaf, in Algiers.

The high-level talks focused on boosting political and economic cooperation, revitalising the Nigeria-Algeria Binational Commission, and promoting Africa’s voice on the global stage.

In a symbolic show of deepening ties, Minister Tuggar also broke ground for a new Nigerian Embassy Chancery in Algiers’ Dely Ibrahim diplomatic district.

The eco-friendly, state-of-the-art building aims to improve consular services and working conditions for Nigerian diplomats.

“This project is more than bricks and mortar—it’s a reflection of Nigeria’s renewed commitment to global engagement and the welfare of its citizens abroad,” Tuggar said.

The project is expected to be completed within 18 months, aligning with the Ministry’s reform agenda to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic presence worldwide.
