IGP Egbetokun Mourns Late AIG Liman Shettima, Pays Tribute To A Life Of Service

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Liman Shettima, describing him as a respected officer whose legacy of integrity and dedication will long be remembered.

AIG Shettima, who breathed his last on 5th July 2025 at his Jos residence in Plateau State, served the Nigeria Police Force with honour until his retirement on 4th June 1999.

Over the course of a distinguished career, he held several key positions including AIG Zone 6 Headquarters in Calabar, Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, and CP Admin at the Police Academy (Polac).

In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP conveyed his condolences to the late officer’s family, friends, and former colleagues, while praying for Allah’s mercy and eternal rest for the departed soul in Aljannatul Firdaus.

The IGP praised the late AIG as a shining example of professionalism and leadership in the Force, noting his invaluable contributions to policing excellence and national development.

“His loss is deeply felt across the policing community and beyond,” the statement read. “May his family find comfort in the remarkable legacy he leaves behind.”
