Stakeholders Harp On Need To Engage Communities For Holistic Healthcare

Engaging with communities to identify the vulnerable will go a long way in solving various issues to do with disease prevention promotion and detection and enable public health interventions.

These were the views of speakers at a ceremony to end the Rotary International President’s African Hope Tour in Abuja.

Speaking at the ceremony, the international president of Rotary, Gordon Mclnally, said, no woman should be allowed to die in the process of child birth.

He called on caregivers to take seriously, postpartum depression and mental health of pregnant women so as to save them from untimely deaths.

Panelists including Adaora Offor of Emeka Offor foundation, Martin Dohlsten of UNICEF, Dr. Habu Dahiru, of the Federal Ministry of Health among others, gave insights on maternal and newborn, mental health of pregnant women, health financing, infrastructural development, and family planning so as to make health care services accessible to Nigerians irrespective of status.

The Rotary International President was accompanied on the tour by his wife, Heather Mclnally.
