Vandal Crushed To Death Under Collapsed 330kV Tower In Delta
A suspected vandal has been crushed to death after a vandalised 330kV transmission tower collapsed along the Ughelli-Benin transmission line in Delta State.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said its linesmen discovered the body on Saturday, August 8, 2026, during an intensive patrol following the tripping of the transmission line on an earth fault.
According to TCN, the patrol team traced the fault to Tower 101, which had collapsed, and found the suspected vandal trapped and crushed between the tower members.
Further inspection revealed that Tower 101 on the adjacent Ughelli-Sapele 330kV transmission line had also been seriously vandalised, although it remained standing.
TCN condemned the act, warning that tampering with power infrastructure can cause not only outages and damage to national assets, but also loss of life.
The company urged host communities and members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities around power installations to security agencies or the nearest TCN office.
TCN stressed that protecting electricity infrastructure is a collective responsibility, urging Nigerians to help stop vandals before their activities plunge communities into darkness.
