Nigeria’s drive to build a globally competitive oil and gas workforce will take another step forward on Monday as the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) launches a digital certification platform designed to improve the quality and credibility of industry training providers.

The Nigerian Content Trainers’ Registration Certificate (NCTRC), which goes live on 27 July 2026 through the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Joint Qualification System (NOGIC-JQS) portal, will assess, inspect, verify and rate training service providers operating in the sector.

The initiative is aimed at enforcing minimum training standards and strengthening quality assurance across the industry.

According to the NCDMB, the certification will cover 11 specialised training areas, with providers evaluated on facilities, qualified instructors, equipment, accreditations, operational capability and previous training experience.

Successful organisations will be classified into five categories, while certificates will remain valid for two years.

The Board said applicants must submit their requests directly through their NOGIC-JQS accounts, stressing that the application and approval process is completely free.

It warned that the use of consultants or agents is not recognised and cautioned that submitting forged documents could lead to sanctions, certificate cancellation and prosecution.

The NCDMB said the initiative reinforces its commitment to developing a competent Nigerian workforce by ensuring oil and gas training meets established standards of quality, competence and excellence.
