NFF Reaffirms Commitment To Empowering Women Football Administrators

Building strong leadership off the pitch is increasingly recognised as essential to the growth of women’s football, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says it remains committed to investing in women who drive the game.

Speaking at the opening of FIFA’s three-day capacity-building workshop for women football administrators in Abuja on Friday, NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to initiatives that strengthen women’s leadership in football administration.

Representing NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Sanusi urged participants to make practical use of the knowledge gained, stressing that the success of the workshop would be measured by its impact on football governance and leadership.

He noted that the current NFF leadership has consistently supported programmes aimed at empowering women, citing initiatives such as the CAF D Coaching Course, the CAF C-Licence Course exclusively for women, and the recent WAFU B Women Administrators’ Programme.

The FIFA-facilitated workshop is designed to equip participants with modern skills in governance, competition management, marketing and the development of women’s football in Nigeria.

Participants include representatives of the Nigeria Women Premier League, female secretaries of state football associations, officials of the National Institute for Sports and members of NFF staff, with FIFA experts and other football professionals serving as resource persons.
