CCAN Backs IGP Disu’s Assurance On Abducted Oyo Pupils, Applauds Police Reforms
In times of insecurity, public confidence often rests on the ability of security agencies to act swiftly and deliver results. The Crime Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CCAN) says the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force under Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, is steadily restoring that confidence.
The association has commended IGP Disu for assuring Nigerians that the schoolchildren recently abducted in Oyo State will be rescued unharmed, describing the pledge as a reflection of the professionalism, operational capacity, and intelligence-led policing strategy currently driving the Force.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Festus Fifen, and Secretary, Peter Ireh, CCAN said the assurance has renewed hope for affected families and demonstrated the police leadership’s commitment to safeguarding lives.
The association noted that under Disu’s leadership, the police have recorded significant successes against kidnapping, terrorism, armed robbery, cultism and other violent crimes, including the rescue of at least 277 kidnap victims nationwide.
CCAN also highlighted the recent rescue of Mrs Olaide Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted in Ibadan, describing the operation as further evidence of the effectiveness of the Force’s evolving intelligence-driven approach.
According to the association, ongoing reforms, improved police-community relations, enhanced transparency and stronger accountability mechanisms have helped rebuild public trust while strengthening national security.
CCAN urged the Inspector-General to sustain the momentum by deepening reforms, promoting professionalism and intensifying efforts to combat crime across the country.
