Troops Nab Two Suspected ISWAP Informants In Borno Crackdown
As security forces intensify efforts to cut off terrorist supply chains in Nigeria’s North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two suspected informants and logistics suppliers linked to Boko Haram and ISWAP in Borno State.
The suspects were apprehended in separate intelligence-led operations under Operation Desert Sanity, aimed at dismantling networks that sustain insurgent activities in the region.
One of the suspects, 23-year-old Adams Shittima, was arrested in Damboa by troops of the 19 Battalion and 25 Brigade Garrison working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Military sources said he was allegedly caught while purchasing farm inputs and mosquito nets intended for terrorist elements operating within the area.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Shittima allegedly served as both a logistics supplier and an informant for insurgents.
He is currently undergoing further interrogation at the 25 Brigade Headquarters.
In a related operation, troops of the 162 Amphibious Battalion arrested another suspected Boko Haram informant within its area of responsibility.
The suspect is being held at the Abogo Largema Military Cantonment as investigations continue.
Security analysts say targeting informants and logistics suppliers is crucial to weakening terrorist operations, as such networks provide intelligence, supplies and support that enable insurgents to sustain attacks and evade security forces.
Military authorities reaffirmed that denying terrorists access to information, logistics and local support remains a key component of ongoing counter-terrorism operations across the North-East.
