Tinubu ‘Laying Durable Foundations’ For Nigeria’s Prosperity, Says Information Minister
In a country still wrestling with rising living costs and economic uncertainty, the Tinubu administration insists that the current pains are the price of a more stable future.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying they are laying “strong foundations of long-term growth and shared prosperity.”
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday when he received members of the Grassroots Advocacy for Tinubu (GAT) 2027 on a courtesy visit, Idris acknowledged that some government decisions had been difficult but necessary to stabilise the economy and restore investor confidence.
“These steps were taken to stabilise the economy and restore confidence. What we are seeing today is the foundations of long-term growth and shared prosperity,” he said.
The Minister urged Nigerians to protect the country’s improving economic outlook through unity and responsible communication, warning that distorted narratives about Nigeria could scare away investors and slow development.
“We must speak positively and truthfully about Nigeria. When we project stability and unity, we attract investment and create opportunities for our people,” he added.
Idris welcomed GAT 2027’s proposal to partner with the Ministry on public enlightenment, youth engagement and strategic communication, describing civic advocacy as crucial in bridging the gap between government policies and grassroots communities.
He reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to governing for all Nigerians, regardless of religion or background, stressing that national cohesion remains central to the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.
In his remarks, GAT 2027 National Coordinator, Professor Ochugudu Achoda Ipuele, said the group was committed to countering misinformation and engaging young people ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We are poised to respond in real time to false or misleading information in the public space and to engage the youth so that the Renewed Hope agenda continues with even more programmes for the country,” he said.
