CAS Pledges Renewed Drive For Operational Excellence In Nigerian Air Force

Nigeria’s new Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has set a clear tone for decisive leadership and renewed efficiency in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), declaring that the aspirations of millions of Nigerians depend on how effectively the Service carries out its duties.

Speaking during his maiden strategic meeting with Branch Chiefs and Air Officers Commanding at NAF Headquarters in Abuja, Air Marshal Aneke reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing operational effectiveness, professionalism, and safety across all formations.

Describing the meeting as a moment to “refocus, realign, and reposition the Nigerian Air Force for greater impact,” the CAS stressed that the Service stands at a defining stage where its performance directly affects national stability and security.

“The aspirations of millions of Nigerians rest, in part, on how effectively we carry out our duties,” he stated, adding that directives from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be implemented “to the letter.”

Aneke outlined that his leadership would be anchored on professionalism, discipline, and purpose-driven operations, with a focus on two central pillars, operations and safety, supported by advanced technology, logistics, and sound administration.

He also assured Nigerians of NAF’s commitment to collaborating with sister services to combat terrorism and other security threats, while maintaining strong civil-military relations and protecting civilian lives.

The meeting, which adopted the Chatham House Rule to encourage open and solution-oriented discussions, marked the beginning of what the Air Chief described as “an actionable framework for measurable results” across the Force.
