Vodacom, Makate Reach Out-of-Court Settlement In ‘Please Call Me’ Saga
After nearly two decades of legal battles, South African telecoms giant Vodacom and Nkosana Kenneth Makate, the man behind the popular “Please Call Me” invention, have finally reached an out-of-court settlement, marking the end of one of South Africa’s longest-running intellectual property disputes.
Makate, a former Vodacom employee, had claimed compensation for the idea that allowed users to send free callback messages.
