Security Agencies Harmonise Plans Ahead Of Anambra Governorship Election
With just days to the Anambra governorship election, security agencies in the state are fine-tuning strategies to ensure a peaceful and credible poll.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of the election, CP Abayomi Shogunle, on Wednesday hosted heads of all security formations in the state at a high-level meeting held at the Police Command Headquarters in Awka.
The strategic session brought together commanders from the Nigerian Army, Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Immigration, Customs, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and NDLEA.
CP Shogunle reaffirmed the collective resolve of the security agencies to guarantee a violence-free, transparent, and credible election on November 8.
He stressed the importance of synergy, intelligence sharing, joint patrols, and professional conduct before, during, and after the polls.
Service Commanders, in their remarks, assured of full cooperation, pledging to protect voters, election officials, materials, and critical infrastructure across the state.
The Police Commissioner further disclosed that all flashpoints had been reviewed, deployment strategies mapped out, and rapid response mechanisms activated to promptly quell any breach of peace.
The security agencies jointly urged residents to remain law-abiding, avoid violence, and exercise their franchise without fear of intimidation.
Political actors were also cautioned to play by the rules and guide their supporters against acts capable of disrupting public order.
Meanwhile, the Command encouraged the public to report suspicious movements or persons through emergency number 112 or 07039194332 for swift response.
