Nigeria’s Bassey Ita Ikpang Shines At 2025 SHE And RIGHTS Media Awards
In a remarkable moment for Nigerian journalism and women’s advocacy, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang, Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), FCT Chapter, has etched her name in history as one of Africa’s shining stars at the 2025 SHE and RIGHTS Media Awards.
Ikpang, who emerged third in Africa, stood out as the only Nigerian among this year’s honourees, joining a select group of trailblazing journalists recognised for their outstanding contributions to gender equality, women’s rights, and health advocacy across the continent.
In a statement celebrating her achievement, NAWOJ FCT described the award as a “well-deserved honour that celebrates Ikpang’s steadfast commitment to advancing women’s rights, promoting gender equality, and defending the right to health for all.”
The association hailed her feat as not just a personal triumph but a collective victory for women journalists in Nigeria, praising her leadership and use of the media as a tool for empowerment and social transformation.
“We are proud of your achievement, Chairperson. Keep soaring, keep inspiring, and keep using your voice to drive positive change,” NAWOJ FCT concluded.
