Anambra Police Intensify Security Ahead Of Governorship Poll With Tactical Teams, Aerial Surveillance

With just days to the Anambra State governorship election, security preparations have been elevated as the Police Command receives reinforcements from the Force Headquarters to guarantee a peaceful exercise.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, approved the deployment of advanced tactical teams, including helicopters and drones for real-time aerial surveillance, as part of a comprehensive operational plan for the 8th November poll.

Welcoming the units in Awka, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, expressed appreciation to the IGP for his commitment to ensuring safety across the state.

He said the aerial monitoring initiative would complement ground patrols, strengthen visibility policing, and enhance rapid response to threats, especially in border communities and identified flashpoints.

CP Orutugu reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to work closely with other security agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure a credible and violence-free election, urging residents to remain calm and report any suspicious activity to the police.
