INEC Assures Of Credible and Inclusive Anambra Governorship Election
With days to the Anambra State Governorship Election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared full readiness, pledging to deliver a transparent, credible, and inclusive exercise on Saturday, 8th November 2025.
INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, gave the assurance during an inspection visit to the Commission’s state office in Awka ahead of Monday’s stakeholders’ meeting, stressing that the electoral body is “fully prepared to deliver an election that reflects the people’s will.”
Professor Amupitan warned against attempts by “vested interests” to discredit the process, maintaining that INEC remains focused and resolute in fulfilling its constitutional duty.
Providing operational updates, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Anambra State, Dr. Elizabeth Agwu, confirmed that all non-sensitive materials had been distributed across the 21 Local Government Areas, while the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) had been configured, tested, and certified ready.
Dr. Agwu added that logistics and power backup arrangements were in place to ensure a smooth and technology-driven exercise.
Accompanied by National Commissioners, the INEC Chairman also visited Oyi and Awka South Local Government offices, inspecting election materials and instructing that all materials must reach polling units by 7:00 a.m., with voting to commence at 8:30 a.m. promptly.
He further assured that security agencies had made robust arrangements to safeguard voters, personnel, and materials throughout the process.
With these measures, INEC has sent a strong message of preparedness and commitment to protecting the integrity of the Anambra election.
