Tinubu’s Development Agenda Driven By National Interest – Idris

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says President Bola Tinubu’s development agenda is anchored on national interest, not politics.

Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by Commissioners for Information from the 36 states, Idris said transformative projects under the administration are being rolled out across the country without bias.

“I have not seen where the President refused to act because a governor is not in the APC. In everything he has done, the focus has been on ordinary Nigerians,” he said.

The Minister highlighted the removal of fuel subsidies as a landmark reform that has unlocked unprecedented revenues for states, enabling governors across party lines to embark on life-changing projects.

He recalled that before Tinubu took office, 27 states struggled to pay salaries, while debt servicing consumed 97% of federal revenue, challenges he said have now been decisively addressed.

Idris urged state governments to align with the President’s vision, assuring that Nigeria is “on a journey towards enduring prosperity for everyone.”

He also revealed plans by the Federal Government to visit select states in the South-South and North-East to inspect projects and gather citizens’ feedback.

Chairman of the Commissioners for Information Forum, Prof. Usman Tar of Borno State, pledged support for national campaigns that promote unity, integration and value re-orientation, stressing that the forum represents “a broad spectrum of the Nigerian Federation.”

The meeting was attended by senior aides to the President and heads of major public information agencies, including NTA, VON, and FRCN.
