Thrilling Rugby Action Opens National Youth Games In Asaba
The 2025 National Youth Games roared to life in Asaba with a pulsating opening day of rugby sevens that showcased the grit, flair and future promise of Nigeria’s U15 stars.
Sunday’s action saw defending champions Edo State and hosts Delta dominate the girls’ pools, while Kano and Delta produced standout performances in the boys’ category, setting up mouth-watering semi-final clashes on Monday.
Edo’s girls underlined their pedigree with back-to-back wins without conceding a single point, while Delta’s team, spurred on by home support, ran riot with a commanding 28-0 victory over Rivers.
Abia and Rivers also battled their way into the last four.
In the boys’ tournament, Kano looked unstoppable with 40 unanswered points across their fixtures, while Delta proved just as ruthless, edging Edo to top their pool. Abia and Edo complete the semi-final line-up.
