The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs (MNDA), says, training and retraining of staff will improve the quality of its services and enhance staff performance.
The overseeing Director, Economic and Empowerment Department, Office of the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Alfred Abah, stated this at the official opening ceremony of a 2-day Refresher training in the administrative procedures of public service organised by the department for the ministry,
The Director who was represented by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Ms. Patricia Deworitshe, said, the training would sharpen the skills of the staff of the department, as Civil service needs constant training and retraining to ensure excellent professionalism.
According to him, it is imperative for the department to equip its staff with the required skills to enhance their service delivery to the people owing to the very important role they play in the Ministry’s scheme of things in actualizing its mandate in the Niger Delta region.
The Director, urged the participants to take advantage of the training programme to achieve success and advised them to be focused so as to benefit from the training.
Earlier, the Director, Economic Empowerment Department, Engr. Ndiomu Philip, had explained that the two-day training programme organized by the department was to boost staff capacity in memo writing, monitoring & evaluation and report writing so that the staff will be able to complete assigned jobs, related tasks with greater efficiency.
A former Director, Economic Empowerment Department, Mr. Akanya, during in his goodwill message noted that the training would be beneficial to the staff considering the nature of their engagement in project implementation, evaluation & assessment of the positive impact of such projects on the people.
One of the participants, Mr. Erhabor Augustine who expressed gratitude to the management of MNDA, explained that the training was long overdue and that the specialized refresher training programme would further equip them in implementing service delivery to achieve the Ministry’s mandate.
